CONSERVATION SERIES

Perform for the Planet

In high school (let’s not talk about how long ago that was!) I completed an intense case study on the environmental impacts of urbanisation on the Australian Daintree Rainforest. Ever since, I have been a passionate conservationist. At University I was an active member of the conservation group and one time, I even chased the current Prime Minister in a koala costume as a protest against the logging of old growth forests.

These days, I consider what I can do as an individual to support conservation efforts. This includes using ethical financial institutions and solar energy, choosing to reuse and renew before I even consider recycling, be as plastic-free as possible, garden organically and house my cats in a custom-built enclosure to protect native wildlife.

I decided it was time to bring together my two passions of music and environmental activism to create a series of works dedicated to spotlighting endangered flora and fauna. 10% of all royalties earned from the sales of each work will be donated to specific research platforms/charities. It is hoped that bands playing these pieces will also consider running their own fundraising event to further support endangered species.

Currently, there are FOUR works in the series, with FIVE additional works due by the end of 2024. Scroll down to learn about what is here, what is coming, join a consortium or SIGN UP to receive notifications on the release of these new works.

Living Wild on a Tamed Planet

Living Wild on a Tamed Planet - Grades 2-4

There are 3 ‘composing’ pieces in this suite, and they take their titles from the three endangered species selected by middle school students of Florida:

Turtles of the Sea (inspired by the 5 sea turtles that lay their eggs on the beaches of Florida), Florida Panther, Schaus’ Swallowtail Butterfly.

With each piece, the level of complexity and technical difficulty increases.
